Every cyclist knows the name of the mountain passes that the racers have to deal with when taking part: Izoard, Col de Vars, Galibier, Alpe d’Huez, Mortirolo, Gavia, Stelvio, Sella Ronda. In this epic and unique bike tour, you will ride on the roads where the most known cycling battles took place and you will be able to live 11 days in the myth of cycling.

We’ll ride across France and Italy, always supported by our bike guide and as professional cyclists, assisted by our van ready to provide help and to satisfy all your needs for an uncomplicated, peaceful cycling holiday.

Day by day

Day 1: Arrival

Transfer to Cuneo from Milan International Airport, tour briefing, and welcome dinner.

Day 2: Cuneo - Jausiers

  • Distance: 90 km56 mi
  • Elevation: 1540 m5052 ft

Today is the Great Day, our epic tour starts now! The first stage takes us from Cuneo to Jausiers (France), it is 90km long with 1540m difference in altitude. The first mountain pass we have to deal with is the Colle della Maddalena 1996m asl. This is a long but not hard ascent, with a 31 km lenght and an average gradient of 3,6%. This ascent became famous in 1949, when Fausto Coppi won the Giro d’Italia achieving an unforgettable solo breakaway. Overnight in Jausier.

Day 3: Jausier - Col de Vars & Col d' Izoard - Briançon

  • Distance: 92 km57 mi
  • Elevation: 2200 m7217 ft

The second day will be spent enterely across France; from this stage onward, we’ll ride on the most important Tour de France mountain passes, starting with the Col du Vars and the Col de Izoard. The Col du Vars (2111m asl) is 9,3km long with 885m difference in altitude. After getting to the amazing top a long descent waits for us, just before starting the world-famous Col de Izoard. The pass is 2361m high, reachable with a 19km ride; it presents a difference in altitude of 1174m and an average gradient of 6.1%. This great ascent is in every cyclist bucket list and today will be added to your “palamares”! Overnight in Briançon.

Day 4: Briançon - Alp d’Huez

  • Distance: 81 km50 mi
  • Elevation: 2050 m6726 ft

Get ready for one of the most epic cycling routes. This important ascent is 13,9km long with a difference in altitude of 1118m. The landscape is incredible between high cliffs and majestic mountains. The history of cycling has been written here by the greatest professional of all time: Pantani, Hinault, Armstrong, Lemond and many more. Overnight in Alp d’Huez.

Day 5: Alp d’Huez - Col du Galibier - Valloire

  • Distance: 75 km47 mi
  • Elevation: 2080 m6824 ft

Another unforgettable day is waiting for us, another famous Tour de France mountain pass: Col du Galibier (2646 m asl) At first we’ll deal with a long descent to the bottom of the valley, from here to the top we’ll gain 1608m difference in altitude in 32km. This road is also known as the most beautiful mountain road in France. The long descent will take us to Valloire, an enchanting mountain town. Overnight in Valloire.

Day 6: Transfer from Valloire (France) to Bormio (Italy)

The transfer is 6 hours long and drives us from France to Italy, Bormio is a well known town the middle of the the Italian Alps, strategically located between the legendary Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo passes.

Day 7: Bormio - Mortirolo Pass - Gavia Pass - Bormio

  • Distance: 105 km65 mi
  • Elevation: 3000 m9842 ft

The second part of this cycling vacation starts in Bormio, one of the most popular destinations when it comes to cycling. This is undoubtedly the hardest day, but our assistance will allow you to deal with this epic stage. The first pass we’ll take on is the Mortirolo Pass, 1300m difference in altitude in 12,4 km with a maximum gradient of 20%. Getting to the top of this road will be an extraordinary, unforgettable emotion. The second pass is the Gavia Pass (2621 m asl), this ascent starts in Ponte di Legno, an important Italian ski resort, and it is 17,4 km long and 1400m difference in altitude. Overnight in Bormio.

Day 8: Bormio - Stelvio Pass - Merano

  • Distance: 100 km62 mi
  • Elevation: 1600 m5249 ft

Stelvio Pass, the highest pass of the tour. This pass is definetely one of the most famous in Europe, the star of Giro d’Italia; lots of tourists come from all over the world to drive or ride across its unique, savage, breathtaking landscape. The ascent is 22 km long with a difference in altitude of 1533m. Then we’ll face the long descent with its 48 hairpin turns, till Prato allo Stelvio and finally arriving to a lovely cycling path towards Merano. Our van will get us now to Canazei in the heart of the Dolomites.

Day 9: Sella Ronda

  • Distance: 64 km40 mi
  • Elevation: 2050 m6725 ft

Dolomites – UNESCO World Heritage features some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys. In one day only we’ll deal with four majestic mountain passes: Pordoi, Sella, Campolongo, Gardena. This is the best way to finish this incredible adventure, a unique cycling experience.

Day 10: Departure

Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

Yes, we provide your transfer from the airport/station on the arrival day and to the airport/station on the departure day.

You don’t need to be an athlete to take part in one of our tours. We offer different levels of difficulty, from the easy/medium tours in Tuscany, the Northern lakes Area, and Piedmont to the more demanding on the mountains. In any case, our van is constantly with the group to provide any kind of assistance.

In order to provide the best service and guarantee the best cycling vacation to our guests, we have chosen to organize tours only for small groups, a maximum of 7 people. So, in case of tiredness, bad weather, or others reason, a spot in the van is always guaranteed. Our team is made up of a bike guide and a driver, these guides are focused on the group, taking pictures, and providing assistance during the stage.

Our van is constantly with the group, providing any kind of assistance. Two guides will take care of the group and being in a small group, everyone will be assisted.
